On Wednesday 26 September 2007 Rupert fulfilled a childhood ambition of driving a steam locomotive. The venue was Alresford station on the Mid Hants Railways affectionately known as the Watercress Line. Thank you to all the family who made this a 40th Birthday treat a day to remember forever.

Goodbye leylandii
Sometimes storms can do good. On 18 Jan 2007 strong winds toppled the tall leylandii in our neighbours garden. Their outbuilding took most of the weight and we only lost a couple of panels from our fence line.
Frogs in our pond
Since creating a wildlife pond on our garden in 2002 we regularly get many frogs laying multiple clumps of frog spawn in the pond. Just our small contribution to the biodiversity in the area.

Many people make New Years Resolutions, I am no exception. Sometimes people keep to their resolutions, others don’t. I’ll let you be the judge of whether I succeeded in keeping to my resolution of posting a bunch of pictures on a monthly basis.
TDWG, St Petersburg, 2005
The Taxonomic Databases Working Group (TDWG) hold an annual conference every year, in 2005 it was the turn of St Petersburg, Russia to play host, This gave me the opportunity to revisit the city which I first discovered in 1988 when it was known as Leningrad.
